If It’s Not Useful or Thoughtful, It’s Not Social.

Today was my day to write a social blog post, which is something I truly enjoy and typically look forward to. And Jennifer Mabes, our newest employee, has been prodding me for several days to get my act in gear.

To know me is to know that I rarely am at a loss for an opinion and/or the desire to express it.

But today… I just have nothing relevant or pertinent or thoughtful to say, which reminds me of something my father always told me: “Jimmy, if you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing.”

And it occurs to me that the world would be a better place if we all just embraced that idea: #lessismore. Imagine how much less cluttered Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest and Instagram would be if people only posted when they had something useful or thoughtful to share. I can comfortably survive without another cat video or update on Donald Trump’s latest tweet or photo of botox lady.

Seriously, less is more.
